WHY DSEF?

The Dripping Springs Education Foundation (“DSEF”) strengthens our schools' education opportunities by providing funding to Dripping Springs ISD for programs that benefit teachers, students, and staff. Founded in 1992, DSEF raises funds via sustained giving programs, community events, and donor stewardship. We fund classroom enrichment and innovative teaching practices, as well as student leadership projects via our teacher and student grant program. Through teacher appreciation initiatives, we help retain top talent in our district. Our mission includes establishing reliable private funding to bridge gaps caused by fluctuating state support, ensuring our schools remain competitive and equipped to deliver the highest quality education.

WHAT DOES AN EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR DO?

• With the Board Executive Committee, builds and executes a business plan for the foundation. This includes the development strategy, donor stewardship plan, programming, DSISD liaison, financial planning, and Board/team development

• Responsible for fund development, including corporate, community and employee giving, grant identification and submission, and major event oversight. Establishes a broad base of new relationships across DSISD and within corporate organizations

• Develops the plan for donor stewardship, ensures the plan is executed, and is responsible for meeting with donors to explore contribution opportunities

• Serves as the DSISD liaison which includes meeting with designated District Representatives and Director of Communications; updating and formalizing the Annual Funding Agreements, Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), and Program Reports; and attending/presenting at School Board meetings

• With Board President, plans agenda and speakers for all Board and Executive Cabinet meetings. Meets with President and plans and facilitates meetings with committees to ensure project deadlines are met. Prepares monthly impact report on deliverables to present at Board meetings

• Leads the budget development process with VP of Finance and President. Responsible for ensuring all programs are on target with budget goals

• Contributes to the quality and integrity of the Bloomerang database by documenting details of business development activity

• Directs, prioritizes, and oversees all work performed by the Assistant Director

• Shares a passion for getting to know the local professional community for Board development and fundraising purposes. Proactively stays in touch with top talent and decision makers

• Contributes to broader DSEF initiatives by providing input and/or leading improvement projects

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s a plus

• Previous business/fund development and account/donor management experience; Established network of local decision-makers preferred

• 5+ years’ experience in a consultative role in a non-profit, education or corporate environment

• Manages broader development and donor network with excellence and confidence; proven relationship-building skills

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Possess attributes of self-motivation, self-direction, can-do attitude, strong decision making, flexible, credible, acts with a sense of urgency, will always do the right thing and a good sense of humor
